Everything Birmingham Parents Need to Know Before the School Holidays

The school holidays are just around the corner, and parents in Birmingham are gearing up for a fun-filled break with their children. To help you make the most of the six-week break, we’ve gathered all the essential information about exciting events, free activities, and budget-friendly outings happening right on your doorstep.

First, great news for families: Birmingham Beach is back this summer in a brand-new location! This popular manmade beach event runs throughout the school holidays and is completely free to attend. Enjoy golden sand, deckchairs, tasty food stalls, and fairground rides — all perfect for keeping the kids entertained without breaking the bank.

Understanding how expensive the holidays can be, especially with multiple days out planned, we’ve compiled a list of 20 free things to do around Birmingham that span the entire holiday period. From parks to community events, there’s plenty to explore at no cost.

Merry Hill Shopping Centre is offering a two-week activity programme called Game On, featuring football, cricket, and karate sessions—all free for children to join. Meanwhile, over in West Bromwich, New Square Shopping Centre not only boasts its own beach but also free mini golf, making it an ideal destination for family days out.

If you’re looking for something a bit different, Farmarama returns in 2026 with double the space of last year. Although tickets aren’t free, they come with £2.50 off and include free return visits. Expect acres of activities, plus five gigantic paddling pools filled with fun for all ages.

For those considering a road trip, why not try the “California vibes” beach that hosts the UK Grand Slam Volleyball tournament? It’s just over three hours from Birmingham, offering a seaside experience much easier to reach than a flight abroad.

In addition to holiday fun, we’ve been inspired by Jessica Brown, a local mum and cancer survivor who turned her life around with Wild Fox Yoga. She now offers wild swimming, sauna, and ice bath sessions—a perfect chance for parents to recharge and enjoy some “me-time” during the busy holidays.

Wishing all the children and parents a wonderful end to the school term. Have a fantastic holiday season filled with laughter and memorable family moments!

Love, Zoe x
