This November, eight counties across northern England are preparing for substantial snowfall, with some areas expecting over four inches (10 cm) of accumulation. Weather maps from WX Charts have highlighted purple zones across northern England, southern Scotland, and Northern Ireland forecasted for Saturday, November 15.
Counties anticipated to experience snow include Lancashire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, Durham, Tyne & Wear, and Northumberland. The North Pennines region may see the heaviest snow, with snowfall rates potentially reaching 4.25 inches per hour at around 3 am on Saturday, lasting through to 3 am Sunday—resulting in a full day of snow.
In addition to the snow, the Met Office warns of cooler conditions and a heightened chance of overnight frost during this period. Their long-range forecast from November 12 to 21 notes an unsettled start with mild temperatures and rain impacting much of the UK, particularly western and southern areas. Strong winds may accompany some of the rainfall.

However, drier spells are expected, especially to the east and north. Clear skies and light winds overnight will likely cause frost and fog, with fog taking longer to clear in some locales. Mid-month may bring a shift toward generally drier and slightly colder weather, increasing the risk of nighttime frost across the UK.
Residents in the affected counties should prepare for wintry conditions and stay updated with local weather reports.
