EDF is offering £50 cashback to electric vehicle (EV) drivers who sign up for one of its EV tariffs before midnight tonight. This credit is equal to approximately 2,500 miles, or about four months of free electric driving.
Joe Souto, EDF’s Director of Retail, explains the offer: “With petrol prices averaging 158p per litre, drivers are feeling the impact of every journey more than ever. Our £50 EV credit helps customers drive further for less this spring, easing the burden of rising fuel costs.”
EDF’s FreePhase tariffs allow customers to take advantage of free electricity during times of surplus renewable energy and low demand. In the past two weeks alone, FreePhase users received 37 hours of free electricity.

The FreePhase Dynamic tariff includes three pricing bands that align with daily wholesale energy prices: Green (super off-peak, 11pm-6am), Amber (off-peak, 6am-4pm and 7pm-11pm), and Red (peak, 4pm-7pm). This structure encourages customers to shift their energy usage to cheaper periods.
Additionally, EDF is running the Sunday Saver challenge from now until Sunday, 3rd May at 11:59pm. Participants will earn free electricity to use on Sundays throughout May and into June.
To participate, customers need a working smart meter that uploads EDF readings every 30 minutes. Progress can be monitored through the Energy Hub on MyAccount, where users gain personalized insights into their household energy consumption.
