EastEnders' Shona McGarty ‘Shocked and Heartbroken’ by Sudden Death of Young Friend

Shona McGarty, best known for her role as Whitney Dean on BBC’s EastEnders and for reaching the final of I’m A Celebrity last year, has opened up about the sudden loss of a close young friend. The 34-year-old actress expressed her deep shock and heartbreak after the unexpected death of Dylan Gallagher-O’Sullivan.

Shona first met Dylan at the Pull Inn pub in Offaly, Ireland—his hometown and a place she often visited with her ex-fiancé, musician David Bracken, who is from the county. Dylan, described by Shona as a “kind, caring, funny, and warm soul,” passed away unexpectedly at home on March 20, 2026.

In an emotional Instagram tribute, Shona wrote: “Dylan had that rare gift of lighting up every room he walked into, always with a big smile and, more often than not, a song to sing. He brought so much life, laughter, and love to the Pull Inn in Offaly, and I feel so lucky to have shared so many happy memories with him there. Those moments will stay with me forever.”

The news of Dylan’s passing touched many, with Shona’s followers and friends offering condolences and support in the comments, sharing their thoughts and love for both Shona and Dylan’s family during this difficult period.
