DWP Confirms Major Pension Changes with MoneyHelper Dashboard Launch Set for October 31

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that the long-awaited MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard is on track to launch by October 31. This innovative online platform promises to revolutionize how individuals manage and view their pension savings by consolidating all pension information into a single, easy-to-access location.

The pensions dashboard will allow users to view their entire pension portfolio—including both private pensions and the State Pension—for free, at any time. This comprehensive overview is designed to help savers rediscover lost or forgotten pensions and gain greater insight into their retirement planning.

Minister for Pensions and Labour Party cabinet member Torsten Bell emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, “We are on track for a major pensions moment, where for the first time people will be able to see their share of the UK’s £3 trillion pensions wealth in one place. For too long, savers have had little visibility of what they’ve built up over a lifetime of work – that changes with dashboards.”

Bell continued, “We’re building a tool that will help millions plan properly for retirement, and with 85 percent of pension records connected, it marks real, tangible progress.”

Oliver Morley, CEO of the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), expressed enthusiasm about the dashboard’s potential impact: “Thanks to the dedication of pension industry professionals, government bodies, and regulators, we are steadily advancing pensions dashboards. People who have tested the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard report a positive experience, highlighting its role in addressing low engagement with pensions.”

As of July, 85% of pension schemes are integrated into the dashboard, combining over 70 million private pension records alongside tens of millions of State Pension records. The public rollout is anticipated early next year.

The dashboard will not only display current pension pot values but also provide projected retirement income for defined contribution schemes. Additionally, it will offer users contact details for their pension providers and direct them to expert guidance services such as Pension Wise.

To access the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard, users will securely log in through their GOV.UK One Login, the same account used for managing tax, self-assessment, student loans, National Insurance, and benefits information.

This groundbreaking tool is set to empower millions of pension savers across the UK with clearer insight and greater control over their retirement futures.
