Drivers Urged to Stock Up as Halfords to Close All Birmingham Stores for 72 Hours Over Christmas

Drivers and shoppers in Birmingham are being advised to plan ahead as Halfords, a major retail chain with numerous locations in the area, will close its doors for 72 hours during the festive season. The chain has confirmed it will shut all its branches on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

This decision allows employees across its 400+ UK sites to spend precious time with their loved ones during the holidays. Halfords joins other prominent retailers such as Home Bargains and Aldi, which have also opted to close stores during key festive dates this year.

Henry Birch, CEO of Halfords, emphasized the importance of this gesture: “Our colleagues go above and beyond for customers all year round, often working long hours to keep the nation moving. It’s important that we recognise that effort and give everyone the chance to switch off and spend quality time with family and friends. Closing our stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is a small but meaningful way to say thank you and ensure our teams come back refreshed for the year ahead.”

Throughout the days between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, Halfords will operate as usual, although opening hours for the 2025 festive season are yet to be disclosed.

Home Bargains has also confirmed similar closures for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, additionally closing at 5 pm on Christmas Eve to allow staff an early start to their celebrations. A Home Bargains spokesperson remarked: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment. As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends during the holidays. We’re proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season.”

Drivers and customers are encouraged to stock up on essentials before the scheduled closures to avoid inconvenience during this festive period.
