AS Roma is actively pursuing a loan deal to acquire Donyell Malen from Aston Villa, with negotiations ongoing but no agreement yet reached. The Dutch forward has reportedly signaled his willingness to consider the move, encouraging Roma to continue their efforts.
While other clubs, including Atletico Madrid, have shown interest, Roma’s approach remains the most advanced. Malen, who joined Villa from Borussia Dortmund for £20 million a year ago, has struggled to secure regular starting opportunities. So far, he has started just seven Premier League games but has still managed to score 10 goals in all competitions.
This season, only Morgan Rogers has scored more goals than Malen at Villa, with Ollie Watkins matching Malen’s tally of seven. Should Malen leave, Villa is expected to seek an attacking replacement, with Tammy Abraham identified as a key target. Abraham, instrumental in Villa’s promotion during the 2018–19 season, was once pursued by manager Unai Emery before suffering an ACL injury.
