Morgan Halliday, a 25-year-old from Flintshire, Wales, attempted to escape police after being spotted driving while disqualified and under the influence of drugs. On Seighford Lane, Staffordshire, this March, Halliday ignored police signals to stop and sped away in his Volvo, exceeding the speed limit by more than double.
During the pursuit, Halliday mounted a verge at a turning, knocking a wheel out of alignment but continuing to evade officers. Eventually, he came to a stop and was arrested. Tests confirmed he was positive for cannabis and had no valid driving license.
At Cannock Magistrates' Court on December 5, Halliday pleaded guilty to multiple charges: dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving with excess controlled substance levels, driving without insurance, and failing to stop when required by police. He was sentenced to 30 weeks imprisonment and received a driving ban for 60 months. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £187 in court costs.
