Discover Two Exciting New Experiences at Birmingham’s Historic Botanical Gardens

Birmingham’s beautiful Botanical Gardens have long been a cherished green oasis in the city, and now there are two fantastic new reasons to visit this 200-year-old attraction.

First, mark your calendar for Saturday, May 2, when the Botanical Gardens on Westbourne Road, Edgbaston, will host an expanded Artisan Market. This event promises a mini festival atmosphere, spilling beyond the traditional halls into the garden grounds. Visitors can explore a vibrant mix of talented makers, street food vendors, live music, and the refreshing spring ambiance. The event features two halls packed with skilled artisans, while outside, guests can roam freely, discovering hidden spots to relax in the sunshine.

Music lovers will enjoy DJ sets from Leftfoot at the bandstand, while Brum Foodie Podcast hosts Breaking Bread make appearances with live interviews. The popular stretch tent returns, offering more space, energy, and a bar run by Medicine Bakery to keep everyone refreshed. Families can get creative with kids’ craft sessions led by Birmingham artist Tat Vision, who recently appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Food enthusiasts can indulge in an array of delicious street eats alongside treats from the Medicine Cafe to fuel their day.

Early bird tickets are currently available at half price.

The second exciting addition is the return of outdoor yoga sessions from May 9, thanks to a partnership between the Botanical Gardens and I AM YOGI, a local yoga business with two city studios. These sessions will include peaceful sound baths and a special Annual Dawn Chorus event aligned with International Dawn Chorus Day on the first Sunday in May.

This unique celebration of nature’s early morning symphony began right here in Birmingham in 1987, when wildlife broadcaster Chris Baines invited friends and family to Moseley Bog to experience the dawn chorus.

The I AM YOGI Dawn Chorus session begins with a guided outdoor yoga flow at sunrise, followed by early access to the gardens to fully appreciate the vibrant birdsong before the public arrives. Organisers highlight this as a profound way to connect with nature within the city and honor Birmingham’s role in launching this global tradition.

Tickets for both events are available online, offering an inviting blend of culture, wellness, and nature at one of Birmingham’s most treasured landmarks.
