Devoted Midlands Mum Dies After Heart Attack at Work

A devoted 35-year-old Midlands mother, Jodie Green, tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack while working at a Next store. The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 7, when Jodie fell ill during her shift at the Enderby branch.

Her colleagues quickly responded by performing CPR until emergency services arrived and transported her to Glenfield Hospital. Despite their best efforts, Jodie suffered severe brain damage and was placed on life support. After 12 days, doctors made the difficult decision to switch off life support, given her zero percent chance of survival.

Jodie fought on for five more days surrounded by her loving partner, James, and family members before passing away at 1:45 pm on Saturday, January 24.

Her sister, Emma, described Jodie’s vibrant and loving personality, saying, “Her bubbly, loving character and contagious smile will be sadly missed by everyone she came into contact with.” Emma also highlighted Jodie’s passion for her work as a nursery nurse, where she loved caring for preschool children and reading stories, especially Julia Donaldson’s books like The Gruffalo, which was even read to her by her mother at her bedside.

Jodie was also a registered organ donor, reflecting her caring nature. She cherished family life, outdoor adventures, and living by the motto “live, laugh, love.” Emma emphasized the deep bonds Jodie formed, explaining that family extended beyond blood ties to include close friends who shared holidays and celebrations with her.

To support Jodie’s partner and their young son Zakary during this challenging time, a GoFundMe page was created which has raised over £19,000 to help with funeral costs. Emma expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, “Jodie will be loved forever.”
