Detectives Seek Man in Connection with Telford Firework Display Stabbing

Detectives are urgently seeking to locate a 21-year-old man following a stabbing at a firework display in Telford. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Saturday, November 8, at a playing field on Wellington Road, Donnington.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was stabbed during the event and subsequently taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Thankfully, he has since been discharged.

In connection with the attack, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. Additionally, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were also arrested but have been released on bail.

Police are now seeking to speak with 21-year-old Abubakar Saleem, who they believe was present in the area and may have vital information regarding the incident.

Detective Inspector Paul Drury of West Mercia Police stated: “We want to speak directly to Abubakar Saleem as we believe he can assist with our ongoing investigation into the stabbing. I urge him and anyone with information to come forward.

“We are reassuring the community that this appears to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.”
