A Birmingham father of seven was escorted out of Dixy Chicken on Soho Road following a violent incident that a court described as an “unnecessary physical attack.”
Colin Cameron, 46, of Frances Road, Erdington, was involved in an altercation on Tuesday, June 2, when he threw an object inside the takeaway. After being confronted by the victim, Cameron threw the man onto a table and punched him several times, Birmingham Magistrates’ Court heard.
The assault happened around 10:30 pm, according to prosecutor Ms Begum, who told the court: “Upon witnessing the defendant throwing an object, the victim challenged him. In response, Cameron threw the victim onto a table and struck him multiple times before being escorted out.”

Cameron, who has 12 prior convictions for 22 offences, pled guilty to assault by beating at the first opportunity on Tuesday, June 30. His solicitor, Mr Durrani, noted that none of Cameron’s previous convictions involved similar incidents and highlighted his responsibility as a father of seven, requesting a community order.
Despite this, magistrates expressed concern over Cameron’s history, pointing to previous convictions including three for assaulting emergency workers. The chair of the bench described the attack as “serious” and “unnecessary,” stressing the physical nature of the assault.
As a result, Cameron was sentenced to a community order requiring 25 rehabilitation activity days. Additionally, he must pay £200 compensation to the victim, alongside £85 in prosecution costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
