Tranquil 1992, the popular Vietnamese coffee shop that has won hearts in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter since late 2023, is launching a new evening concept this week. On Thursday, January 8, it will open Tranquil 1992 After Hours at its original location on 87 Vyse Street.
Known for standout beverages like salted coffee, egg coffee, and matcha, Tranquil 1992 quickly earned a devoted following and a stellar 4.8-star rating on Google Reviews. Now, the brand extends its welcoming atmosphere well into the night with a carefully curated selection of independent wines sourced from local suppliers, alongside imported Japanese umeshu (plum wine) and authentic Vietnamese beer.
Situated opposite the Jewellery Quarter’s train and tram station, the new wine bar offers more than just drinks—it promises an experience. Visitors can enjoy a unique soundtrack spun exclusively on vinyl, ranging from modern jazz to house music, enhancing the cosy and laid-back setting.

Open Thursday through Saturday from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, the after-hours venue complements the daytime coffee shop hours that start at 10 am every day. Founder Thang Nguyen shares, “As a wine lover, I was searching for a quirky modern jazz bar to unwind and connect with people. Central Birmingham surprisingly lacks a local indie wine bar, so we saw an opportunity. By showcasing characterful wines, we aim for Tranquil 1992 After Hours to become a vibrant part of the Jewellery Quarter community—not just for locals but for visitors too.”
