Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney Shares Heartfelt Tribute to EastEnders Star in Surprise Soap Crossover

In a delightful surprise for soap opera fans, Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney, who currently portrays Cassie Plummer, took to Instagram to express her affection for EastEnders star Jessie Wallace. The pair, well-known in their respective soaps, shared candid moments at DJ Fat Tony’s 60th birthday party held at Soho Mews House in London earlier this week.

Claire, who joined Coronation Street in 2023 as the estranged daughter of Evelyn Plummer and long-lost mother of Tyrone Dobbs, captioned the photo of her with Jessie — famously known for her role as Kat Slater on EastEnders — “Corrienders… the crossover nobody expected. Mates for over 20 years. Love you @jessie.wallace_official, you make me laugh so much.”

Fans were quick to react, filling the comments with praise for the two actresses. Comments such as “Both fabulous,” “Pair of iconic queens, Cassie Plummer and Kat Slater,” and “Beautiful pictures of you both, absolutely love Jessie,” floated across social media.

Claire Sweeney’s career in soaps extends beyond Coronation Street. She initially rose to fame in Channel 4’s Brookside as Lindsey Corkhill, a role she played from 1991 until the show’s conclusion in 2003. Beyond soaps, Claire has also enjoyed success as a TV presenter, stage performer, and appeared on popular reality shows including Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing on Ice.
