Construction Boss Dies by Suicide After Leaving Handwritten Note to Loved Ones

Ionut Damian, a 35-year-old construction company owner, tragically took his own life last year, an inquest in writing has confirmed. On September 30, 2025, Damian was found unresponsive at his home in Streetly, Sutton Coldfield. Despite efforts to resuscitate him and subsequent medical treatment, he passed away nearly a month later in Birmingham Hospice on October 24.

Before his death, Damian left a heartfelt handwritten note to his family and sent WhatsApp messages indicating his intentions. The Area Coroner for Birmingham and Solihull, Adam Hodson, concluded that Damian died by suicide. The inquest in writing, used when facts are uncontested, detailed that Damian had been struggling with personal difficulties leading up to the incident.

After being found, Damian was taken to Good Hope Hospital, where he suffered seizures caused by a hypoxic brain injury. Despite medical intervention, his condition worsened, and a decision was made to prioritize his comfort. He was later transferred to Birmingham Hospice, where he died peacefully.
