Co-op is shaking up its online shopping hours to better serve millions of customers this summer. From June 14, the supermarket will extend delivery times in 180 of its stores during England and Scotland football match days, ensuring fans can enjoy the action without missing a beat.
Typically, Co-op’s online deliveries stop at 10pm, but for the six group-stage matches, delivery services will continue up to an hour after the final whistle. For example, on June 14, during the England vs Panama match, customers can place online orders for delivery until 1am. Likewise, for Scotland’s match against Haiti, orders will be accepted until 3:30am.
Kate McCrae, Co-op Retail Director, explained, “Sport brings people together, and we see a big spike in online orders during major national sporting events. This summer, working alongside our delivery partners, we are extending trading hours at 180 stores—often into the early hours—so our customers can easily access food and drinks without missing any football excitement.

“We’ve carefully planned to ensure the right stock is available in the right places, matched with attractive promotions on popular items, so everyone can celebrate—or commiserate—together.”
While store-specific online opening hours typically vary, this new initiative means that match-night essentials, beverages, and sharing foods can be delivered to customers in record time.
Co-op’s exclusive, time-limited deals are designed to anticipate demand surges, with some offers achieving up to a 1,000% increase in sales and boosting online customer participation by 30 to 50%.
As one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains—alongside competitors like Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, and Tesco—Co-op operates 2,300 food stores, 800 funeral homes, and a wholesale business supplying around 8,000 additional outlets. It employs 53,000 people and generates annual revenue exceeding £11 billion.
