Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has identified six incoming and six outgoing players as the ideal target for the club’s summer transfer window. However, this number does not yet include the potential permanent signings of Jhon Solis and Ibrahim Osman.
Davies is keen to secure both players following their impressive loan spells. The Blues hold an option to sign midfielder Jhon Solis permanently and are currently negotiating with Girona’s parent club, City Football Group. Solis has become a fan favorite and integral part of the squad, making his permanent transfer a priority.
Securing Osman’s future at the club is more complex. The midfielder is on loan from Brighton, but unlike Solis, there is no buy option included in his agreement. Brighton had previously included a purchase option when loaning Osman to Auxerre, and the club remains hopeful Brighton can be persuaded to reach a deal.

If these two signings materialize, Davies believes only minor squad adjustments will be needed moving forward. Reflecting on his previous statement about the ideal transfer figures, Davies said: “I think that’s around the right figure.”
He emphasized the importance of quality over quantity: “When you’re bringing in 12, 13, or 14 players, it’s easy to make mistakes. But with a smaller group, we can take our time and get it right. That provides continuity.”
Davies also highlighted that he has a clear vision of the squad’s needs, position by position, and believes reaching these targets will help Birmingham City progress to the next level in the league. “If we can get that right, that number should be fine,” he concluded.
