Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has provided an update on winger Patrick Roberts, who was absent from the squad during the recent Championship defeat to Norwich City due to injury concerns.
Roberts, who has been in impressive form this season, travelled with the team to Norfolk hoping to overcome an injury sustained during Sunday’s derby draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, he ultimately failed the pre-match fitness test and did not feature, instead watching the game from the stands as Birmingham City suffered their first loss of the campaign.
“He was here,” Davies explained. “He was touch and go all through the day, and we were trying to get him ready, but in the end we just couldn’t quite get the tick that we needed.

“He will be touch and go for Derby.”
Roberts' absence led to Carlos Vicente starting on the wing. Vicente scored Birmingham’s only goal at Carrow Road but narrowly missed a clear opportunity to equalise late in the game.
Discussing Vicente’s miss, Davies said: “He made incredible ground to get there but just didn’t quite get his connection right.
“The keeper spread himself, and on another day that goes in. I’ve told him not to be too hard on himself.
“Both wingers had to give their all right until the end because we’ve got a few injuries.”
Birmingham City will be hoping to see Roberts back to fitness in time for their upcoming fixture against Derby County, where his presence on the wing could prove vital.
