Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has given a candid response to West Bromwich Albion boss Ryan Mason’s complaint about a non-awarded penalty during their recent Championship clash.
The Baggies felt aggrieved after Alex Mowatt’s opening goal was cancelled out by Marvin Ducksch’s equaliser, which followed a challenge involving Aune Heggebo and Patrick Roberts. Mason believed a penalty should have been given when Heggebo went down under Roberts’ challenge before the equaliser.
Mason commented, “I haven’t seen it back but my opinion was that you could see the ball didn’t change direction and Bo is not the type of player to go down without contact. We’ll see in a couple of days when we get the email through. I know we’ve had quite a few emails this season saying the decision was unanimously wrong so that’ll be interesting, but it doesn’t change the game and the result.”

When asked about the penalty appeal in his post-match press conference, Davies — who previously worked alongside Mason at Tottenham Hotspur’s coaching staff — shrugged off the claim, saying: “No, I haven’t seen it, I can’t even remember it, which tells you how much it was a penalty.”
The 1-1 draw leaves Birmingham City ninth in the Championship table, just two points shy of the play-off places after 17 matches in the campaign.
