Birmingham City’s left-back Alex Cochrane suffered an injury during the team’s final training session ahead of their 3-0 loss at Sheffield United on Saturday. His absence was keenly felt as Jack Robinson was forced to fill the left-back role out of position for the second time in three matches.
Cochrane has been a crucial player for Birmingham over the past 18 months, often the only natural left-back in the squad. Manager Chris Davies revealed that Cochrane’s injury came unexpectedly at the last moment, jeopardizing his availability for the upcoming festive fixtures against Derby County and Southampton.
“Alex was a blow because he got injured at the end of training yesterday,” Davies explained. “We were all set, and he was ready to play, but it was a last-minute issue that came up. Whether he will be out for days or weeks, I’m not sure yet. We need to monitor his condition closely in the coming days. It’s important because he’s our only specialist left-back, so getting him back as soon as possible is crucial.”
