Birmingham City’s manager, Chris Davies, has hailed the arrival of Spanish winger Carlos Vicente as a significant achievement for the club. The Blues secured Vicente’s signature earlier this week, reportedly for £7 million, beating out top European clubs including Champions League regulars Ajax.
Vicente, who has already netted 10 goals this season for Alaves—five of them in La Liga—arrives at St Andrew’s as a highly-rated talent whose transfer has surprised many in Spain. Davies expressed pride in attracting a player of Vicente’s caliber to the English Championship, emphasizing the club’s positive trajectory.
“What stands out is his intensity,” said Davies. “Carlos is an energetic winger who makes intelligent runs behind defenses. He’s a quality crosser and predominantly plays on the right flank, though he can adapt to the left.”

The coach highlighted Vicente’s fit within Birmingham’s playing style, which emphasizes width and attacking football. “We play with width, always looking to open defenses, and Carlos’s ability to get to the by-line and deliver crosses suits us perfectly.”
Vicente also joins fellow new signing August Priske, a towering 6ft 4in striker from Denmark. Davies envisions a strong partnership between the two, with Vicente’s crosses complementing Priske’s aerial prowess.
“Carlos is bright, speaks excellent English, and is very eager to contribute,” added Davies. “We’ve signed an exciting player who I believe will connect well with Priske and the team as a whole.”
With Carlos Vicente on board, Birmingham City looks set to enhance its attacking options and push higher in the Championship standings.
