Chris Davies Addresses Marvin Ducksch’s Away Form Following Birmingham City Substitution

Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has offered insight into striker Marvin Ducksch’s inconsistent performances away from St Andrew’s Stadium amid the team’s broader difficulties on the road.

Ducksch, a two-time Germany international, was substituted at half-time during Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers after a subdued first-half showing.

While Ducksch has delivered some standout displays at home, his form in away matches has been less convincing, with his four away starts yielding disappointing results. Davies emphasized that this is largely reflective of the team’s overall struggles rather than an isolated issue with the striker.

“Marvin has been really good for us," Davies said. “Like all players, he’s had his better games. He’s returned to the team and played a lot of football, with matches every three or four days. I think his form away from home is a consequence of the team not performing at their best on the road, with him being the focal point.”

Davies noted that Ducksch’s inability to link play as effectively away from St Andrew’s is symptomatic of the whole team’s underperformance. “Some individuals have been better at home, and we’ve got to improve that collectively away from home because we haven’t been good enough. That’s the truth.”

He added that, after 20 league games—11 away and nine at home—the team is well aware of the need to pick up more points on the road to enhance their campaign.
