Chinese Delivery Workers Facing Deportation After Solihull Restaurant Raid

Two Chinese nationals found working illegally at The Jade Wok in Solihull are now facing deportation following a targeted immigration crackdown on delivery drivers.

The arrests were part of a wider operation last month, where immigration officers detained 171 delivery riders across the UK within a single week. Of these, 60 individuals are due to be removed from the country.

Government officials have been actively engaging with major delivery companies like Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats to address the issue of illegal workers exploiting these platforms.

Border Security Minister Alex Norris emphasized the government’s commitment to combating illegal employment, stating, “These results should send a clear message: if you are working illegally in this country, you will be arrested and removed. We are implementing the most comprehensive changes in recent times to reduce migration incentives and intensify enforcement efforts.”

Further arrests included four riders of Bangladeshi and Indian origin apprehended in Newham, East London, and three Indian nationals detained in Norwich, with two set for removal.

This crackdown represents a significant move by UK authorities to tighten immigration enforcement within the delivery sector and protect lawful employment.
