Jason Lane, a 44-year-old from Droitwich, Worcestershire, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after being found guilty of 16 sexual offences involving a young boy. The verdict was delivered at Redditch Crown Court in June, with sentencing taking place at Worcester Crown Court on November 12.
Lane’s convictions include three counts of rape of a boy under 13, two counts of rape of a boy aged 13 to 15, four counts of assault by touching a boy under 13, three counts of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual penetration. Additionally, he was found guilty of attempting to cause or incite a boy aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity without penetration and causing a child under 13 to view images of sexual activity.
Described by the judge as a “very dangerous individual,” Lane was also given a four-year license period and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Detective Constable Allie Thompson of West Mercia Police commended the bravery of the victim and their family. She highlighted the extensive efforts of police officers during the investigation and expressed hope that the lengthy sentence would help the victim find healing and justice.
“We are committed to pursuing sexual predators and ensuring they face the full weight of the law,” DC Thompson added. “We encourage any victims of sexual offences to come forward. We take all concerns seriously and are dedicated to protecting the community from offenders like Lane.”
