Two years ago, chef Lucas Toborek made the significant decision to move his family and business from Poland to the West Midlands. Since establishing Chef Lucas Catering Services Ltd in Burton, the business has experienced rapid growth and gained recognition within the industry.
Lucas, who started the catering service two years ago, now employs nine full-time chefs at their premises on High Street. His wife Magdalena joined the team after the first year, helping to expand their operations.
The company has benefitted greatly from support provided by Staffordshire County Council’s Get Started and Grow business support programme, which offers free expert advice in areas including legal matters, public relations, marketing, digital technology, and finance to businesses up to five years old. Additionally, Lucas took advantage of the Start-up Mentoring service.

This assistance has played a crucial part in their recent accolade, as Chef Lucas Catering Services was recognised by the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce at its 2026 business awards in the Start-Up & Step-Up category.
Lucas reflected on the move: “Relocating to Staffordshire from Poland has been hugely beneficial for our business. Being centrally located in the country is ideal since we cater for events across the UK, from Loch Ness to Exeter. The local business environment has been incredibly supportive.”
He continued, “The backing we’ve received from Staffordshire County Council and connections through the wider business network, including the Chambers of Commerce, have been invaluable. The support has truly helped us navigate our growth.”
Chef Lucas Catering Services Ltd offers mobile catering for a variety of events, ranging from family celebrations and pop-up street food stalls to grazing tables, fine dining, and buffets.
Due to its rapid expansion, the company is now seeking larger premises within Staffordshire to accommodate its growing team and operations. Lucas emphasised the importance of utilising local support programmes, stating: “The county council offers numerous forms of support. I encourage others to reach out and explore what might be available to assist their business.”
