Excitement is brewing among coffee lovers as Black Sheep Coffee prepares to open its doors in Grand Central, Birmingham. The new café will take over the space formerly occupied by Costa Coffee in unit 41, with the official opening set for November 13.
The announcement from Bullring on social media drew enthusiastic responses from fans eager to try Black Sheep Coffee. One follower shared, “Love their coffee. Can’t wait,” while another simply wrote, “finally.”
This change comes as part of a recent wave of updates within Grand Central’s food and retail offerings. Costa Coffee and Caffè Concerto, both long-standing staples since the shopping centre launched in 2015, have closed their doors. Other closures include The Perfume Shop and Shokupan, though Shokupan’s location may reopen in the future. Additionally, Giraffe has ceased trading, and construction work is underway on that unit.

Black Sheep Coffee will be joining new arrivals Tonkotsu and Pizza Pilgrims, enhancing the centre’s diverse dining scene. A Grand Central spokesperson commented on the evolving lineup: “We’re always looking to deliver what our visitors want, which sometimes means evolving our line-up, especially around our food and drink offer.”
The spokesperson also highlighted recent additions beyond dining, noting the recent opening of Sostrene Grene’s first Birmingham store, which offers a unique selection of homeware, wellness, and craft products starting from just 14p. Further new fashion brands and eateries are reportedly in discussions to join the centre soon.
With these changes, Grand Central continues to refresh its mix of shops and eateries to meet customer expectations and keep the shopping experience vibrant and appealing.
