Jack Whitehall is set to step back into the spotlight tonight as the host of the BRIT Awards 2026. At 37, the comedian and actor has built an impressive career, gaining fame for his roles as JP in Channel 4’s Fresh Meat and as Alfie Wickers in the BBC Three sitcom Bad Education, which he also co-wrote.
Having already hosted the BRITs five times, this year’s event marks a milestone—the first time in its 49-year history that the ceremony will be held outside London. The ceremony takes place on Saturday, 28 February, at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.
Beyond his thriving career, Jack’s personal story reveals resilience and notable connections. In 2024, he courageously opened up about his past battle with bulimia, a serious eating disorder characterized by cycles of bingeing and purging. Jack shared his experience during Freddie Flintoff’s Disney Plus documentary, acknowledging the pressure he felt early in his television career and applauding Flintoff’s bravery in speaking out about similar struggles.

After a health scare including a pre-gout diagnosis—attributed to lifestyle factors such as increased alcohol consumption following the birth of his daughter—Jack transformed his diet and lifestyle, prioritizing his wellbeing.
Jack’s family background is equally remarkable. His father, Michael Whitehall, is a former TV producer, and his mother, Hilary, known professionally as Hilary Gish, is a former actress with credits in Fierce Creatures, London’s Burning, The Good Guys, and an episode of the BBC sitcom Miranda. Additionally, Jack’s godfathers are distinguished actors Nigel Havers and the late Richard Griffiths. Griffiths gained acclaim for roles such as Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films and Uncle Monty in Withnail and I, earning both Tony and Olivier Awards. Havers is renowned for his performances in Chariots of Fire, A Passage to India, and TV favorites like Coronation Street and Benidorm.
On the personal front, Jack is engaged to model Roxy Horner. The couple, together since 2020, celebrated the arrival of their daughter Elsie in September 2023. Before Roxy, Jack was in a long-term relationship with actress Gemma Chan, whom he met on the set of Fresh Meat in 2011. They parted ways amicably in 2017 due to demanding schedules. Jack later reflected in his Netflix series Travels with My Father that he “messed up” his chance to marry Gemma. Chan is widely recognized for her roles in Crazy Rich Asians, the sci-fi series Humans, and Marvel’s Eternals.
As Jack Whitehall continues to shine on stage and screen, his journey through personal challenges and rich family ties adds depth to his charismatic public persona.
