Boss of Landmark Birmingham Building Claims Illegal Parking is Hurting Business

The director of Majestic Conference & Banqueting Hall, Taz Ulfat, has raised concerns about illegal parking outside his venue in Birmingham, which he says is affecting his business and frustrating customers.

Located just steps from Villa Park on Witton Lane, the Majestic Hall occupies a historic building that dates back to 1882, originally serving as a tram depot before becoming the Aston Manor Road Transport Museum. Despite its prominence, Ulfat reports that visitors struggle to find parking when attending events due to cars being parked illegally nearby.

Ulfat alleges that mechanics from the neighbouring Stała Autos garage have been parking customers’ vehicles on double yellow lines and directly blocking access to the banqueting hall’s entrance. This not only obscures signage but also frustrates customers trying to reach the venue.

“This has been an ongoing issue for several years and is worsening,” Ulfat told BirminghamLive. “The mechanics don’t have enough space, so they illegally park on double yellow lines outside, blocking our gate and signs. During Villa games, they park elsewhere, but at other times, they make it very difficult for our clients.”

He added that despite repeated requests for the mechanics to stop parking illegally, the problem persists. Recent Google Street View images from June 2024 confirm vehicles consistently parked on double yellow lines in front of the hall.

In response, Stała Autos told BirminghamLive on March 23 that it plans to improve parking practices starting March 25.
