Birmingham’s Top Five Areas Struggling with Antisocial Behaviour

Birmingham has been grappling with persistent issues of antisocial behaviour (ASB), affecting residents’ quality of life in several neighbourhoods. An analysis of police records from 2025 highlights the five worst-affected areas where community members frequently face disturbances caused by nuisance youths and related problems.

Antisocial behaviour covers a broad spectrum of offences but is most commonly linked to rowdy, drunken, or disorderly conduct near pubs, shops, and on residential streets. Such behaviour can range from noisy gatherings and street harassment to intimidating or threatening actions, leaving many especially vulnerable residents feeling unsafe in their own homes.

Last year, police across Birmingham responded to thousands of ASB incidents reported by the public. However, these numbers only reflect reported cases, as many residents choose not to come forward due to fear of retaliation or simply wanting to avoid conflict.

The Small Heath and Highgate policing area saw the highest number of reports, with 418 incidents recorded within twelve months to October 2025—averaging more than one report per day. Close behind was Aston, with 405 reported incidents.

The top five areas most affected by antisocial behaviour are:

  1. Small Heath and Highgate
  2. Aston
  3. [Area 3]
  4. [Area 4]
  5. [Area 5]

While some incidents may be relatively minor, the cumulative impact can severely disrupt community life, creating an environment of fear and distress. Authorities continue to work with residents and local organisations to address these issues and improve public safety across Birmingham.
