Taste Film has made its debut in Birmingham, offering an immersive culinary and cinematic experience that appeals to both film enthusiasts and food lovers. Having gained popularity in London and other UK cities, this unique event now provides Brummies with an exciting new option for a memorable night out.
The concept features an eat-along format linked to a specific film renowned for its delectable dishes. For this occasion, the Pixar classic Ratatouille was chosen, enchanting audiences at The Button Factory in Birmingham. Attendees enjoyed the film screened on the venue’s largest available screen while savouring cocktails or mocktails and dishes inspired by the food prepared by Remy, the film’s protagonist.
Ratatouille, a timeless favourite, needs little introduction, but the Taste Film experience delivered on all fronts. The evening began with a precisely timed tasting of a strawberry and cheese bite-a nod to one of the film’s iconic moments-paired with a lemon, vanilla, lavender, and vodka sour cocktail.

Guests were treated to five courses, ensuring everyone left as content as Emile, Remy’s brother and culinary sidekick. The first course was followed by a Tomme de Chevre and mushroom croque monsieur accompanied by saffron lemonade. Next came a comforting leek and potato soup served with herby croutons and cheese.
The main course was the highlight: ratatouille complemented by slow-cooked lamb and truffled croquettes. Dessert featured a luxurious cremeux with ginger crumb and fruit ratatouille, making it an excellent choice for those with a sweet tooth.
Tickets are priced at £87.50 and include the five-course meal, three drinks, and the film screening.
The Button Factory proved an ideal setting for the event, with intimate tables in a cosy, softly lit upstairs bar area, enhanced by warm and attentive service. A particularly memorable moment was the lighting of sparklers at each table, adding an unexpected and delightful sensory experience.
