Stratford Road in Birmingham has become the city’s leading hotspot for parking fines, with nearly 8,000 tickets issued in just the first five months of 2026. Exclusive data obtained by BirminghamLive reveals that traffic wardens have been vigorously enforcing parking regulations along this busy thoroughfare, handing out approximately 1,500 penalty charge notices each month.
A staggering 7,884 fines were recorded between January and May, with over 5,000 issued along the Sparkhill section and an additional 2,775 in the Sparkbrook area. Common violations include parking on double yellow lines, failure to pay parking fees, and overstaying time limits.
This surge in fines places Stratford Road ahead of Birmingham’s previous hotspot, Alum Rock Road, which now ranks second with 4,744 penalties so far this year. The shift suggests intensified enforcement in the Stratford Road area or a growing parking problem stemming from high demand for limited spaces.
