Birmingham’s Safest Streets: Where Quiet and Security Prevail

Birmingham often faces a reputation for high crime, with some neighbourhoods experiencing daily challenges. Yet, this dark image does not reflect the entire city. Many areas, particularly more affluent suburbs, boast low crime rates and minimal antisocial behaviour (ASB), offering residents a safe and tranquil environment.

Antisocial behaviour—ranging from groups loitering late at night to intimidating gatherings outside shops—can cause significant distress, especially to the elderly and vulnerable. Finding a home in a peaceful community free from such issues is invaluable, providing families with genuine peace of mind.

An analysis of West Midlands Police crime data reveals the parts of Birmingham with the fewest ASB reports in the 12 months leading to October 2025. While areas including Small Heath and Aston experience high levels of disturbance, quieter neighbourhoods like Sutton Coldfield—known for its upscale living—as well as Hall Green, Oscott, and Nechells emerge as some of the safest parts of the city.

These findings underline that Birmingham is a city of contrasts—while some parts struggle with crime, others remain havens of quiet and security where residents rest easy.
