Birmingham’s Crime Hotspots Revealed: Top Three Areas by Crime Type in June

Birmingham experienced a total of 13,192 recorded crimes in June, according to data released by West Midlands Police. This comprehensive report highlights a range of offences, from serious violent and sexual crimes to shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, illustrating the varied challenges faced in different parts of the city.

The city’s crime was notably concentrated in three areas, each recording more than 450 offences during the month. Ladywood, located in the heart of Birmingham’s city centre, emerged as the leading hotspot with 900 crimes reported. Following Ladywood were Bordesley and Highgate with 564 offences, and Soho and Jewellery Quarter recorded 472 offences.

  • Vehicle crime: 51
  • Criminal damage and arson: 43
  • Drugs offences: 34
  • Robbery: 29
  • Theft from the person: 22

  • Anti-social behaviour: 21
  • Possession of weapons: 18
  • Bicycle theft: 10
  • Other crimes: 9

Bordesley and Highgate (Total offences: 564) was marked by:

  • Criminal damage and arson: 58

  • Other theft: 48
  • Shoplifting: 39
  • Drugs offences: 27
  • Theft from the person: 22
