Birmingham’s Corporation Street Issues Most Driving Fines in UK with 100,000 Penalties

Corporation Street in Birmingham has been identified as the UK location issuing the highest number of driving fines, with a total of 100,985 penalty charge notices (PCNs) issued over the 12 months leading up to April 2026. This equates to nearly 277 fines being handed out every single day, according to freedom of information data obtained by NetVoucherCodes.

A significant portion of these penalties were related to breaches of the city’s clean air zone, while others were issued for parking offences or violations of driving restrictions along this busy thoroughfare. Corporation Street stretches from close to New Street station, passing through a bustling shopping district and past the city’s courts before reaching James Watt Queensway. It is also partially served by the Midland Metro tram line.

Motorists frequently find themselves penalised on this route, which has contributed to Corporation Street standing out as the area with the most fines associated with clean air zone breaches nationwide. While Birmingham City Council has not disclosed the financial revenue generated from the penalties, it is likely to amount to several million pounds.
