A Birmingham school has expressed its delight after receiving a distinctive endorsement from Disney.B32, a street artist often compared to Banksy.
Students at The Edge Academy in Northfield were surprised and thrilled to discover a new mural featuring a small, tousle-haired boy crouching down. Above the figure are mathematical equations, while the boy gazes thoughtfully at cracks in the wall, clutching a trowel. Opposite the image, a message reads: “The Edge Solidskills building futures.”
Principal Adam Smith revealed that the artist sent a letter to the school authenticating the artwork and explaining the choice of location.

In the letter, Disney.B32 stated: “This has genuinely been one of my most pleasurable pieces to create, because of the clear message behind it-recognising a school willing to venture down alternative paths to engage young people and acknowledging that different young people can thrive through different forms of learning.
“The work is intended as a mark of recognition and respect for what The Edge, together with Solidskills, is doing for its young people.
“With admiration and respect, and yours in good faith.”
The Edge Academy is a non-mainstream institution dedicated to providing education through a special culture founded on relational practice, emotional connections, and trauma-informed approaches to positive behaviour management. This philosophy aims to support pupils who benefit from alternative learning environments and methods.
