Birmingham Woman Assaulted Police Officers After Drinking Prosecco

A 32-year-old woman from Erdington, Birmingham, admitted to assaulting three police officers after consuming three glasses of prosecco, a court was told.

Kirsty Proudfoot, residing on Gravelly Lane, was involved in an incident on December 6th last year, during which she punched, kicked, and bit responding officers. Proudfoot appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on January 22, where she pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Prosecutor Shajah Javed detailed the attacks, stating that Proudfoot first punched one officer on the shoulder, then kicked another, causing pain to the officer’s chin. She also bit a third officer during the confrontation.

Defending lawyer Andrew Ball explained the circumstances, noting that Proudfoot’s actions were influenced by alcohol and her use of antidepressants—a combination he described as “never a good combination.” He mentioned that prior issues related to the case had since been resolved.

District Judge Michelle Smith adjourned the case to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service and granted Proudfoot bail pending further proceedings.
