Birmingham’s secondary schools have shone brightly in the latest national league tables, with several institutions earning near-perfect scores that highlight their exceptional standards.
The rankings, compiled by The Telegraph, evaluated every secondary school across the country and assigned an overall score out of 40 based on key criteria such as exam results, attendance rates, and class sizes.
Dominating the list, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys secured an outstanding 39 out of 40, making it the highest-ranking secondary school in Birmingham and positioning it among the top performers nationwide. The school’s counterpart, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, also impressed with a commendable score of 38.

In total, eleven Birmingham secondary schools scored 35 or above, earning the ‘very good’ classification in the league table. Alongside the Camp Hill schools, King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys and St Paul’s School for Girls both achieved strong scores of 38. King Edward VI Five Ways School and King Edward VI Lordswood School for Girls followed close behind with scores of 37.
This range of high performers includes some of the city’s most prestigious grammar schools as well as notably successful comprehensive schools, demonstrating Birmingham’s broader educational excellence. These results affirm the city’s reputation for having a diverse array of secondary schools that consistently deliver quality education and strong academic outcomes.
