Birmingham Residents Warned: Cars Will Be Moved and Fined If Parked on 45 Roads Tonight

As the Great Birmingham Run and half marathon take place this Sunday, major road closures will affect 45 streets across Birmingham. With an expected turnout of 16,000 runners, the city is implementing strict parking restrictions to keep participants safe.

Drivers are warned that any vehicles parked along the race route risk being fined and moved by an uplift system starting at midnight on Saturday, May 2. Residents living on or near the affected routes are urged to relocate their cars to side streets outside the closures or use driveway parking where possible.

The event routes cover key areas including the city centre, the Jewellery Quarter, Digbeth, and the city’s southern districts. Road closure signs have been clearly displayed for two weeks leading up to the event to ensure everyone has ample notice.

Organisers of the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run emphasized: “We have an uplift system in place on event day to relocate vehicles left on the route. Parking suspensions will begin from midnight on Saturday, May 2. Vehicles that are removed may also be issued penalty charge notices.”

To avoid fines and the inconvenience of vehicle relocation, residents and visitors are advised to check the list of affected roads and comply with parking restrictions during the event period.
