Stratford Road in Sparkhill has emerged as one of Birmingham’s busiest hotspots for parking fines. Traffic wardens regularly patrol this bustling route, targeting drivers who break parking regulations.
Between January and November 2025, a staggering 6,646 parking tickets were issued along Stratford Road, averaging around 22 fines every day. Only Alum Rock Road saw more tickets handed out, with a total of 10,512 during the same period. These two roads are well-known throughout the city for persistent parking issues and heavy enforcement.
Stratford Road, particularly the Sparkhill section, experiences high volumes of traffic during peak hours. It is lined with numerous shops and businesses, alongside residential areas, creating fierce competition for limited parking spaces. Many properties have cramped conditions, leading to frequent parking challenges.

Drivers caught violating parking rules may have parked illegally on double yellow lines, failed to pay parking meters, or overstayed permitted parking times.
Other roads with significant numbers of fines include Gas Street, Washwood Heath Road, and Cornwall Street.
