A Birmingham driver has been banned from driving after authorities found a substantial amount of vodka in his car following a crash, coupled with repeated refusals to submit to a breath test.
Raymond Heaven, from Erdington, was involved in a collision during which police officers discovered half a bottle of vodka inside his vehicle. Subsequent to the incident, at the police station, Heaven declined to provide a breath specimen on six separate occasions.
This combination of evidence led to his driving ban, highlighting the serious consequences of drink-driving offences. The refusal to undergo breath testing is treated by law enforcement as a significant offence, often equated with driving under the influence itself.
Such cases underline the persistent efforts by police to deter drink-driving and ensure road safety within the Birmingham area and beyond.
