Birmingham Mother’s Sleep Disrupted by Persistent Alarm from Local Glass Firm

Cheri Carr, a resident of Sheldon in Birmingham, has endured relentless noise from a continuous alarm at the nearby Holdens Supaseal glass firm on Garretts Green Lane. The alarm, which reportedly began sounding on Christmas Eve, has caused her sleepless nights and significant distress, even making her consider moving house.

During the festive period, attempts to reach anyone responsible at the company were unsuccessful, and an email to a keyholder went undelivered, leaving Cheri feeling unheard and frustrated. Speaking to BirminghamLive, Cheri described the impact on her well-being: “I have to walk around my house with earphones on. At night, the alarm triggers me and prevents me from sleeping properly. The continuous, annoying sound ruined my Christmas. It’s irritating and frustrating.”

She added, “I feel anxious every night when I hear it, and all I want is to sleep. This was supposed to be a time to relax, but instead, it made me so upset that I’ve thought about moving house.”

Though the alarm temporarily stopped around 7:40 a.m. on Monday, January 5, it resumed later that night, prolonging Cheri’s hardship.

A spokesperson for Holdens Supaseal acknowledged the ongoing problem: “We have identified a fault with the alarm and are actively working to resolve the issue. We apologise for the disturbance and understand it is a nuisance for our neighbours. Our goal is to fix this as soon as possible.”
