Birmingham Industrial Unit Set for Transformation into Spa and Wellness Centre

A former industrial unit on St Clements Road in Nechells, inner-city Birmingham, is poised for a dramatic transformation into a vibrant spa and wellness centre. An application has been submitted to convert the existing warehouse into a multi-purpose leisure complex that will include a spa, snooker hall, café, and fitness areas.

If approved, the revamped facility will operate seven days a week and generate 14 new jobs, supporting both full-time and part-time positions within the community. The ground floor will house a café and kitchen, creating a welcoming space for visitors, while the first floor is designed to offer treatment rooms, a make-up studio, lockers, dressing rooms, yoga and fitness areas, as well as a snooker hall equipped with six tables and a lounge.

Parking is not expected to be an issue, with nearly 30 spaces available on site, including designated disabled bays. The development aims to revitalize an under-utilized building situated in an established employment zone, promoting health, social interaction, and community well-being.

A design and access statement accompanying the application highlights the vision to enhance the existing structure without changing its scale or character. It emphasizes compliance with national and local policies regarding design quality, accessibility, and sustainable development, positioning the project as a balanced, inclusive, and sustainable initiative.

Local Councillor Lee Marsham has encouraged residents of the ward to share their views on the proposal ahead of the upcoming full planning meeting, ensuring community involvement in shaping the future of the site.
