Birmingham City are set to complete their seventh signing of the summer transfer window today, with Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini poised to join the club. Fuseini is expected to arrive on a season-long loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, including an option to purchase. This follows the recent acquisitions of Jhon Solis, Dael Fry, James Beadle, Luis Vazquez, Kristoffer Lund, and Max Bird during this transfer period.
The club’s recruitment team continues to assess attacking options, with wingers still under consideration as they seek to enhance Chris Davies' offensive options. Fuseini is regarded as a versatile attacker capable of playing across the front four positions, having impressed primarily as a second striker during the 2024/25 season with Union Saint-Gilloise.
Although Fuseini brings flexibility, he is not an out-and-out winger akin to Ibrahim Osman, whom Birmingham City have aimed to re-sign or replace this summer. Osman has participated in all four of Brighton’s early-season fixtures across the Premier League and Europa Conference League; however, a move back to St Andrew’s at Knighthead Park has been hindered by Fabian Hurzeler.

It remains to be seen whether Birmingham can secure a direct replacement for Osman before the window closes, but the addition of Fuseini will at least bolster the squad’s attacking options.
Regarding departures, Chris Davies has shown reluctance to entertain interest in players who have featured regularly in the early season. Although Birmingham have received enquiries about Patrick Roberts, Davies remains intent on retaining the 29-year-old as he competes alongside Carlos Vicente for a place in the first team.
Marvin Ducksch appears the most likely candidate to leave, especially if the squad depth in attacking positions is deemed sufficient following Fuseini’s arrival. Ducksch may seek more playing time, which could be limited under Davies, potentially prompting an exit after just one year with the club.
Additionally, there could be late developments concerning fringe players Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright. Birmingham would also be open to considering offers for Kanya Fujimoto if suitors emerge. At the start of August, Davies made his stance clear about Fujimoto, stating: “He’s a player that can’t have another season like he had last year where he didn’t play too much.”
Fujimoto has yet to convince Davies that he merits Championship-level minutes, and Fuseini’s arrival intensifies competition for places, likely further restricting Fujimoto’s opportunities in the squad.
Birmingham City face Southampton this evening, and Davies will be keen to have all transfer dealings resolved well ahead of the match to focus fully on the game.
