Birmingham City Set for Prime TV Coverage Following Championship Fixture Release

Birmingham City supporters should prepare for potential fixture changes as the 2026/27 Championship schedule was unveiled yesterday, with several matches likely to be moved for television coverage.

Once again, the Blues will open their new campaign with a prime-time televised match on Sky Sports, traveling to Sheffield United on Saturday, August 15 at 5:30 pm. This live coverage marks a continuation of last season’s pattern where Birmingham City enjoyed significant exposure.

The early weeks of the season promise some captivating fixtures that could appeal to broadcasters. Notably, the first Hollywood Derby of the season will be held at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground on the third weekend. The match against Wrexham, currently scheduled for 3 pm on Saturday, August 29, is a prime candidate for TV coverage, as each of the last four encounters between the two clubs has been broadcast live.

Birmingham City also host high-profile matches against Southampton and Wolves, followed by challenging games against Philippe Clement’s Norwich City, Derby County, and Middlesbrough before the season’s first international break. These fixtures could also attract television selections, giving fans multiple opportunities to see their team live on screen.

Supporters will know exactly which of their first eight matches are selected by Sky Sports by July 2. Additionally, the broadcaster has committed to announcing all TV selections for the season through the FA Cup Third Round weekend on January 9, 2027, no later than July 31.

Last season, Birmingham City had six of their opening 11 matches broadcast on Sky Sports, including their Carabao Cup first round win over Sheffield United. Given their strong appeal, the Blues could once again feature prominently in televised fixtures throughout the campaign.
