Birmingham City Council Raises £1.58m from Swift Property Sales Following Auction

Birmingham City Council has successfully raised approximately £1.58 million through a series of rapid property sales following last week’s auction. The council secured deals for five distinct assets, demonstrating a proactive approach to managing its property portfolio.

The standout transaction was the sale of land at Key Hill, Hockley, which alone generated £800,000. Additional sales included land adjacent to 1 Stone Road, Edgbaston, which sold for £277,000, land at Victoria Road, Aston, bought for £380,000, Unit 2 (Shop 4) in Wheeler Street Shopping Centre, Newtown, sold at £25,000, and the former Lodge Hill Cemetery Office on Weoley Park Road, Selly Oak, which fetched £97,000.

Despite these successful sales, not all properties found buyers. Two commercial units in Newtown remained unsold, and a community centre in Lozells was withdrawn from the auction.
