Birmingham City Council Announces Seven Diverse Properties for Auction This March

Birmingham City Council is set to auction off a variety of properties this month, offering investors and developers a unique opportunity to acquire prime assets across the city. The auction, hosted by Bond Wolfe, will feature seven key lots, including land parcels, commercial units, and a community centre. The event is scheduled for 8:30 am on Thursday, March 26.

Among the highlights is a freehold plot adjacent to 1 Stone Road in Edgbaston, with a guide price of £100,000. Spanning approximately 4,380 square feet, this vacant land sits at a major junction where Lee Bank Middleway and Belgrave Middleway meet the A38 Bristol Road—close to new residential builds and student housing. Gurpreet Bassi, CEO of Bond Wolfe, emphasizes the site’s potential: “Its proximity to Birmingham city centre and the bustling residential area makes it an attractive prospect for developers, subject to planning permission.”

Also available is a community centre located behind 1-9 Carpenters Road, occupying around 626 square meters (6,738 sq.ft.) including storage and office spaces. The property offers four parking spaces and generates an annual rental income of £13,000 on full repairing and insuring terms. It is sold freehold but is subject to the existing tenancy.

Additional lots include a freehold, irregularly shaped land parcel of approximately 3,186 square meters (0.78 acres), and a substantial vacant freehold site measuring about 3,257 square meters (35,058 sq.ft.). Both parcels may suit various development ventures pending planning approvals. The larger site is subject to a 99-year lease from 1968 with a ground rent of £175 per annum, reviewed every 25 years.

Further offerings include two freehold retail premises secured with long-term leases at a combined ground rent of £350 per annum, also reviewed every 25 years. All properties will be sold subject to existing rights of way, wayleaves, and restrictive covenants.

The auction will be livestreamed on Bond Wolfe’s website, allowing remote bidding via proxy, telephone, or internet. Interested parties can register and find more details by contacting Bond Wolfe at [email protected] or calling 0121 312 1212 / 01902 928 510.
