Birmingham City Centre Pub Launches Fawlty Towers-Inspired Menu Featuring ‘Mystery Shot’

The Victoria, a popular pub just a short walk from Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre, has introduced a unique limited-edition cocktail menu inspired by the iconic BBC series Fawlty Towers. Perfect for theatre-goers attending the current Fawlty Towers play, this special menu offers drinks themed around the show’s memorable characters.

Fawlty Towers, a classic British comedy starring John Cleese as the eccentric hotel manager Basil Fawlty, has remained a fan favorite since its original twelve-episode run. The Victoria’s new menu captures the spirit of the show with cleverly crafted cocktails and a playful nod to its eccentric characters.

Highlights include ‘The Major’s Old Fashioned’ (£9.25), featuring bourbon, sugar, Angostura bitters, and a twist of orange peel. Fans of Basil can enjoy the aptly named ‘Basil’s Breakdown Sour’ (£8.25), blending pisco, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters to reflect the character’s famously frazzled demeanor.

There’s also ‘Polly’s Punch’ (£8.25), a refreshing mix of peach schnapps, orange juice, lemonade, and grenadine, inspired by the ever-resourceful Polly. And for those feeling adventurous, The Victoria serves a playful ‘Manuel’s Mystery Shot’ priced at just £3.50. When asked about its ingredients, staff cheekily reply, “I know nothing,” echoing Manuel’s iconic catchphrase.

This Fawlty Towers-themed menu adds a fun and immersive element to a night out in Birmingham’s city centre, especially while the play is showing at the Alexandra Theatre until March 21. The Victoria, located at 48 John Bright Street, B1 1BN, offers a great spot to enjoy a theatre pint or cocktail with a comedic twist.
