Stuart Forsyth, a 45-year-old man from Bilston, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of arranging and attempting child sexual offences. Forsyth engaged in “truly graphic” online conversations revealing his dangerous interest in young girls.
Posing as a fellow paedophile, an undercover police officer engaged Forsyth in discussions between May and September 2022. During these exchanges, Forsyth expressed his attraction to children and made arrangements to meet, under the false pretext of attending a concert in Bristol, with the intent of engaging in sexual activity with a child the officer claimed to have.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Michael Chambers KC condemned Forsyth as a manipulative individual and described him as a “high risk man.” Forsyth attempted a defence, claiming he was a paedophile investigator rather than a perpetrator, but the jury unanimously rejected this.

This was not Forsyth’s first encounter with the law on related offences. In 2002, he received a caution after exposing himself to a 16-year-old babysitter and attempting to involve her in sexual acts. The judge highlighted this caution as a serious warning which Forsyth had failed to heed.
Defence barrister Jenny Burgess noted that Forsyth has not committed any offences since 2022, had removed himself from social media, and is considered a respected family member and hardworking colleague. However, the court was clear on the severity of his actions and the risk he poses.
In addition to the prison sentence, Forsyth has been placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must remain on the sex offenders register for life.
Following sentencing, Forsyth thanked the judge and was remanded to custody at HMP Dovegate.
