A 44-year-old man from Bilston has been fined after admitting to cultivating cannabis, which he said was intended to help manage his personal pain.
Ranveer Adil was arrested on 18 July when police visited his Wolverhampton residence in relation to unrelated matters. While attending the property, officers conducted a search for additional evidence and found a quantity of cannabis, classified as a Class B drug.
Adil, who lives on Fraser Street, pleaded guilty to the offence at Dudley Magistrates' Court on 27 August.

His defence solicitor, Vaughn Whistance, explained that the amount involved was small. He said: “The plants had already been grown and harvested, and the cannabis was in the process of drying before use.”
Mr Whistance further detailed that Adil was cultivating the drug to alleviate physical and mental health issues. “He suffered a serious road traffic accident twenty years ago, and has been stabbed in the past while working as a security guard. He experiences post-traumatic stress disorder and finds that cannabis helps him manage these symptoms,” he added.
The magistrates sentenced Adil to an £80 fine, alongside a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
