BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing to Replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: Bradley Walsh Emerges as Front-Runner

The world of Strictly Come Dancing is abuzz following the shock announcement that beloved presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be stepping down at the end of the current series. While fans come to terms with their departure, speculation is heating up over who will take the hosting mantle next.

Among the names in circulation, Bradley Walsh stands out as the top contender. The charismatic presenter, known widely for his role on The Chase, brings a warm, “old-school showbiz” vibe that BBC executives find particularly appealing. This potential appointment would also pay homage to Strictly’s roots, echoing the era when the late Bruce Forsyth co-hosted alongside Tess from 2004 to 2013.

A television insider shared with The Sun that Bradley’s impressive live-show hosting experience and broad appeal make him the perfect candidate. “Bradley is a real pro and has brilliant experience hosting live shows,” the source said. “His name has come up several times with executives as many think he would be great. Of course, he would have a female co-host to form a duo.”

Other strong contenders reportedly include former professional dancer Oti Mabuse and Strictly It Takes Two host Fleur East, both praised for their dance expertise and presenting skills.

The departure of Tess and Claudia caught many in the industry by surprise. The pair announced their exit together via a heartfelt video message on social media, expressing their gratitude and explaining the decision as a long-planned joint farewell. Having co-hosted since 2014, Tess’s involvement with Strictly dates back to its very first broadcast in 2004, marking two decades of dedication.

In their statement, Tess and Claudia said, “We have loved working as a duo, and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together, and now feels like the right time.”

Despite reportedly planning their departure privately for over a year, producers and crew were still taken aback by the announcement, marking the end of an era for the popular dance competition.
